It’s funny how quickly life can change—one moment, everything feels normal, and the next, you’re learning how to do things you never thought possible.

The flower rips out of my index finger as I tilt a tree to the side in front of me.

“Nice work, Lia. Let’s try something bigger.” Mack spawns a boulder and throws it toward the dirt clearing. “I want you to lift that twenty feet while sprouting three flowers from your other hand. This will test your air element as well, for multitasking.”

I yank hard on the air to pull the boulder up, succeeding in bringing it as high as the tallest trees in the forest surrounding us. I muster two tulips tugging out of my other palm. My head burns as the boulder crashes down, filling the air with dust particles.
